Okay… so apparently, I had to have that talk with Zeus again.
You know, the one that starts with:
“Buddy, just because her whole head fits in your mouth doesn’t mean you should test it.” 😅
He gave me that look — the big, soulful eyes, the floppy ears tilted like he’s confused about how the world works.
I swear, he thinks he’s a babysitter, not a dog.

Since the day we brought his little sister home, he’s been obsessed with her.
He follows her everywhere — nap time, tummy time, bath time, even diaper time (which I keep telling him is not a team sport).
If she cries, he cries. If she laughs, he loses his mind wagging his tail like it’s the best sound he’s ever heard.
So yeah, I shouldn’t have been surprised that one day, curiosity got the better of him.
She was sitting on the floor, giggling at him, and Zeus leaned in — slow and gentle like always.
Then suddenly… her tiny head disappeared inside his mouth. 😳
My heart stopped.
“ZEUS!”
He froze instantly, eyes wide, and gently let go, looking absolutely horrified at himself — like he couldn’t believe he just did that.
The baby, on the other hand, thought it was hilarious. She laughed like it was the funniest thing in the world.
Meanwhile, I aged about ten years in three seconds.
After I caught my breath, I sat down next to him on the couch, and he looked so guilty. His ears were down, his paw on my knee, just waiting for me to say something.
So I told him, “Buddy… I know you love her. But you can’t love her with your mouth, okay? You have to love her with your heart.”
He sighed — like he totally understood.
The next few days, he was extra careful around her.
If she crawled too close, he’d gently nudge her back with his nose. If she tried to grab his tail, he’d slowly move it away.
But he never stopped watching her.
Every nap, he’d curl up by her crib.
Every cry, he’d come running to find me.
Every laugh, he’d wag that tail so hard it looked like his whole body was smiling.
It’s wild, you know — watching your dog turn into a big brother. He’s protective, gentle, and somehow seems to understand that this tiny human is the most important thing in our world.
And honestly, she feels the same.
Now when she sees him, she lights up. She reaches for his fur, babbles nonsense to him, and he just listens like he’s hanging on every word.
They’ve got this bond — one of those quiet, unspoken ones that only kids and dogs can have.
It’s chaos, it’s messy, it’s beautiful… and yeah, sometimes it involves a baby head in a German Shepherd’s mouth.
But at the end of the day, that’s Zeus.
He’s gentle, goofy, and always learning what love means in his own clumsy way.
And honestly? I wouldn’t trade that for anything. ❤️🐾
